Day of the Dead Character
Basic rig with controllers.
I started with a basic heel to get the overall shape and added the details along the way.
The braid started as a simple curve. Once I got the shape, I went under Surfaces - Loft and duplicated the mesh a few times until it weaved together. After I converted it into polygons, I used the bend tool to wrap around the characters head and smoothed out the braid.
I sent the model over to Mudbox to start the painting process.
Once the retopology was finished, I mirrored the other half of the body and smoothed out the mesh to add more detail.
I used the Quad Draw tool in Maya to retopologize the high poly model.
I started with the basic human mesh and blocked out the character's form.
